Farmed Shrimp Exports $150 Million This Year.
The head of the Deputy Minister of Aquaculture Development of the Fisheries Organization of Iran told our correspondent: This year, 57,800 tons of prawns were produced from 14,034 hectares and about 75-80% of those these were sent to markets in the region, Asia and Europe. .
 

Morteza Afrasiabi added: "This year, shrimps have been exported to countries such as Turkey, Iraq, United Arab Emirates, China, Spain and France, and the most exports have been reported to China and the United Arab Emirates".

He said that with the tact and planning of the public and private sectors, the problems in the field of shrimp have become less and less important, he said: The quality of Iranian shrimp has found its place and its way to global markets and is valuable.

Afrasiabi said of China's recent remarks regarding the issuance of an import license for Iranian shrimp in the near future: "Iran has a large shrimp production capacity, and China is an important market and decisive for this product because of its large population, and therefore with Solving some problems with sanitary standards and China's desire to import more, our producers are incentivized to produce more.

He added: Most of Iran's farmed shrimp exports to the United Arab Emirates and China.

In response to our reporter's question about the farmed shrimp export program to the Eurasian region, the head of the Vice Minister of Aquaculture Development of the Iranian Fisheries Organization acknowledged: "Currently, small amounts of farmed shrimp are exported to Armenia and Russia, but we have plans for the Eurasian market."

Highlighting the use of export capacities of neighboring countries and the Eurasian region, he said, “We should not rely on just a few markets in aquaculture, especially shrimp.

Afrasiabi continued, "Shrimp is an expensive and strategic export commodity and to stay in global markets, the private sector needs to be able to market and know what products the global market wants with what specifications and packaging and understand market needs. ."

He said, "Given the production experience in the country and the awareness of shrimp producers about the needs and standards of the markets for this product, it can be said that there is a clear vision for this sector."
