Tariff for 80% of goods between Iran and Eurasia will be zero.
With the conclusion of the agreement on Iran's membership in the Eurasian Economic Union and its approval in the assemblies of the negotiating countries, the customs tariff of 80% of the goods between Iran and the other member countries will be reduced to zero.
 

According to the Iranian Trade Development Organization, a joint meeting of the Iranian delegation and representatives of the member countries of the Eurasian Free Trade Economic Union was held to conclude a free trade agreement with Eurasia, organized by the Isfahan Chamber of Commerce, and the content of this memorandum was explained to businessmen and economic activists.
During this meeting, "Mirhadi Sidi", the advisor for international affairs and trade agreements of the Iranian Trade Development Organization and Iran's negotiating team in the Eurasian negotiations, said that he is necessary for traders and producers to begin their studies in order to be present. As soon as this additional agreement comes into force, traders should enter the commercial market with these countries with complete information and basic planning.
He said: If the previous agreement is converted into a free trade agreement, the trade tariff for about 80% of goods between Iran and Eurasia will be zero, and it is clear that this will have a great impact on the trade in our country. , because we have not yet concluded an agreement of such scope.
Sidi continued: This agreement will not only increase our country's exports to the five countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, but also facilitate the supply of our country's import needs from the Eurasian market.
Stating that in the first year of implementation of the Iran-Eurasia Preferential Trade Agreement, our exports to Eurasian countries increased by 82%, he said: Today, after about 2 years and 9 months, our total trade with the Eurasian Union has doubled. .
He added: After 2.5 years of negotiations in 2017, we signed a preferential trade agreement with the Eurasian Union. According to this agreement, Iran received tariff reduction points on behalf of Eurasia on 500 goods, and to these countries on 390 items of goods with reduction Part of the tariffs gave points.
Sidi recalled: The provisions of the free trade agreement being negotiated create the capacity to develop joint investment and production between the two parties alongside the development of trade.
The advisor for international affairs and trade agreements of the Iranian Trade Development Organization said that more than 50% of exports in the world are carried out under these agreements and clarified: For example, Turkey has a free trade agreement with 21 countries without customs duties. This figure is about 5% for our country and we are behind the world average.
He said: After conducting 15 rounds of negotiations via webinar and five rounds of face-to-face negotiations between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union, we hope to sign the new memorandum in the next three months, and then the parliaments of the both parties will have to approve.
 

Following this meeting, Anton Stunevsky, the head of the Eurasian Economic Union negotiating team, said that Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan regard Iran as a strong and stable country, and that economic cooperation between these countries can be beneficial for all parties, and said: I hope for cooperation between the members of the Eurasian Economic Union and Iran.
He added: In 2018, the preferential trade agreement between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union was concluded and implemented from October 2019, resulting in a lot of progress in trade between the two parties. .
Of course, many goods can still be traded bilaterally; Because the high capacity is still unused.
Stating that the number of goods traded between the two sides can be greatly increased, Stunofsky said: More activities should be done to create free trade and obtain lower tariffs, and this can be beneficial for both sides.
The head of the Eurasian Economic Union negotiating team said that we are doing our best to find the best solutions to the problems of Iranian businessmen and said: further negotiations are needed to improve this agreement so that we can turn the preferential agreement into a free trade agreement.
Stating that our real effort is aimed at utilizing the full capacity of the agreement, he continued: In 2019, the trade volume between the two parties was $2.4 billion, which reached $5 billion in 2021.
Based on this, the Eurasian Economic Union ranked third in economic interaction with Iran.
Stressing that we should do our best to increase the trade volume with Iran, Stonovski said: About $4 billion of the trade volume between the two sides is related to agricultural products, and in the past few years the industrial machinery trade has also increased a lot.
