Memorandum of Understanding for Rail Transport Development and the Establishment of a Logistics Village in the Sirjan Special Economic Zone

According to the press release from the Kerman Civil Engineering Organization, the memorandum of understanding relating to the development of rail transport and the establishment of a logistics village in the Sirjan Special Economic Zone was signed in the presence of Dr. Hossein Amiri, CEO of the Kerman Civil Engineering Organization, Jabar Ali Zakeri, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and CEO of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, as well as leaders and representatives of the parties to the agreement.
In accordance with this memorandum, the Sirjan logistics village will be established and operational within the city’s special economic zone, covering an area of 230 hectares. This project aims to increase the share of rail freight, develop logistics infrastructure, and enhance the region’s status as a transit hub. It is one of the most significant logistics projects in Kerman Province.
These memoranda of understanding were signed as part of the approvals of the country’s logistics center headquarters and in the presence of Jabarali Zakeri, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and CEO of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, as well as leaders and representatives of the parties to the agreement.
In this regard, and in order to complete the logistics service chain of the regions, the Sirjan Special Economic Zone, in order to facilitate and accelerate the export process, signed an agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Company in the presence of Dr. Hossein Amiri, CEO of the Kerman Civil Engineering Organization, on the basis of which the Sirjan Special Economic Zone will be presented to exporters as an empty container platform.
The implementation of this plan will effectively contribute to improving the fluidity of the supply chain and strengthening the competitiveness of regional exports by facilitating exporters’ access to containers, accelerating export operations, reducing goods demurrage times, and lowering logistics costs. The Public Relations Department of the Kerman Civil Engineering Organization announced: “The synergy between the development of the logistics hub, the railway infrastructure, and the establishment of a container platform will make the Sirjan Special Economic Zone one of the country’s leading logistics, export, and transit centers, and will provide the necessary conditions for attracting new investment and sustainable economic development in Kerman Province.”
In accordance with the commitments made by the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, planning and monitoring of the construction of railway infrastructure, issuance of necessary permits and establishment of a platform for regular transportation of goods by rail will be carried out within the framework of the implementation of these agreements. The public relations department of the Kerman Civil Engineering Organization called this agreement and contract with the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Company an important step towards transforming the Sirjan Special Economic Zone into one of the main logistics and export centers of the country.
